Our Blessingdales Thrift Store supports the ministry by offering quality donated goods at affordable prices, while creating a warm and welcoming environment that reflects the love of Christ.

Position Overview:

The Director of Retail Operations will oversee all aspects of the daily operations at Blessingdales Thrift Store. This leadership role requires a hands-on, mission-driven individual with strong retail experience and a heart for ministry. The ideal candidate is a servant leader who can manage staff and volunteers effectively, maintain operational excellence, and maximize revenue to support the mission of God's Shelter of Love.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, supervise, and support a team of employees and volunteers in a Christ-centered environment.
  • Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
  • Create, manage, and maintain staff and volunteer schedules to meet operational needs.
  • Oversee daily store operations, ensuring an organized, clean, and welcoming environment for customers.
  • Manage inventory flow, including donations, pricing, merchandising, and display.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to maximize revenue while honoring the ministry's mission.
  • Handle cash management, daily deposits, and financial reporting accurately.
  • Monitor and analyze sales trends, making data-driven decisions to improve performance.
  • Resolve conflicts and address customer or volunteer concerns with grace and professionalism.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with leadership on marketing, outreach, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Uphold and model the values and mission of God's Shelter of Love in all interactions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of retail management experience required (thrift store or nonprofit retail experience preferred).
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and basic financial reporting.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Commitment to Christian values and the mission of God's Shelter of Love.
  • Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.

Job Type: Full-time
