Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop foundational accounting skills within a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will support various accounting functions, gain exposure to both corporate and non-profit accounting practices, and contribute to the preparation of financial reports. Prior experience with accounting software and a strong understanding of financial concepts are highly valued.

Duties

  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards
  • Perform account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely processing and accuracy
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to support management decision-making
  • Aid in the preparation of financial reports and interpret financial data
  • Support compliance with SOX controls and other regulatory reporting requirements
  • Assist with audit preparations and cooperate with external auditors during audits
  • Maintain detailed documentation of financial transactions and ensure adherence to internal controls
  • Collaborate with team members on special projects related to business finance and governmental accounting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with GAAP, accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and financial concepts
  • Knowledge of financial report writing, interpretation of financial statements, and financial analysis techniques
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements including SOX compliance and securities law is desirable
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting purposes
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong analytical skills combined with good communication abilities to interpret complex financial data effectively
