Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and friendly Cashier/Customer Service representative to join our team at a bustling grocery store. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and a passion for providing exceptional customer service. This role involves handling transactions, assisting customers with their inquiries, and ensuring a pleasant shopping experience.

Duties

  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently to process customer transactions.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and addressing concerns.
  • Assist in merchandising products effectively to enhance store displays and promote sales.
  • Engage in upselling techniques to encourage customers to purchase additional items.
  • Perform stocking duties to ensure shelves are well-stocked and organized.
  • Handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining proper cash handling procedures.
  • Conduct product demonstrations to inform customers about new or featured items.
  • Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
  • Supervise junior staff as needed, providing guidance and support during busy periods.
  • Utilize retail math skills for accurate pricing and inventory management.

Experience

  • Previous experience in cashiering or customer service roles within a retail environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with grocery store operations is a plus.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply, as this can enhance communication with diverse customers.
  • Strong phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries over the phone is essential.
  • Basic math skills are required for accurate cash handling and transaction processing.
