Structured Settlement Support Assistant

Our boutique structured settlement firm is hiring a part-time administrative assistant.

Will utilize proprietary life insurance company software to create annuity payment plans as part of a negotiated settlement resolving personal injury, medical malpractice or wrongful death claims. Will describe the annuity plan in the closing settlement documents and coordinate with various life insurance companies to obtain final annuity contracts.

RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Use insurance quoting software and quote annuity benefits using a defined cost basis to ascertain future payments.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and insurance brokers to complete various court-required settlement documents.
  • Tabulate various settlement values for establishing eligibility for payment distribution under New York statutes and other state requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding math. The candidate will be using basic addition and subtraction to determine various allocations that will be used in an injury settlement.
  • Excellent at creative writing. Candidate will use grammatical skills to update templates of settlement agreements, court documents, and correspondence that will be read by judges, court personnel, insurance companies and attorneys.
  • Excellent and confident verbal skills. Candidate will be required to speak to attorneys, court personnel, insurance representatives, injured victims and their families in an articulate, empathetic, and educated manner.

HOURS:

To begin, we are looking for 5-8 hours a day. Once fully trained may need more help. No set hours. Help is needed based on when projects are assigned.

  • This is a work-from-home position. The candidate must have access to the internet and a quiet location. We expect our employees to treat this job with the same commitment as an office job.

Compensation to be determined based on experience. Looking for long-term.
