About the Position:
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and energetic professional to serve as our Director of Development. This critical leadership role will expand FPA's donor base and secure philanthropic support for our creative endeavors, including theater, film, touring productions, and media initiatives. Working closely with the senior leadership team—including the President and Managing Director—the Director of Development will drive innovative fundraising strategies and cultivate lasting relationships with major donors.
Salary: $125,000 – $165,000 annually
Performance Based Incentives: tied to successful fundraising outcomes and organizational impact.

Location: Remote
Travel: FPA operates nationally with key activities in major cultural hubs; candidates must be willing to travel as needed.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Fundraising & Development Planning:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with FPA's mission and artistic vision.
- Establish annual and multi-year fundraising goals, ensuring revenue growth through diverse funding sources.
- Identify new revenue opportunities and innovative fundraising initiatives to expand donor engagement.
- Define and track Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to measure progress against fundraising goals and donor engagement metrics.
Major Gift Strategy:
Develop and manage a robust portfolio of major gift prospects, cultivating relationships with high-level donors, foundations, and corporate partners to
secure support for FPA's productions and projects. Give leadership to a marquee donor vision weekend held annually at a 5-star venue.
Annual Fundraising Plan:
Collaborate with senior leadership to design and execute a comprehensive annual fundraising plan with clear goals, strategies, and performance metrics.
Campaign Management:
Lead annual sustained giving campaigns and special events, ensuring effective outreach and engagement of FPA's supporter community.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Build and maintain strong working relationships with FPA board members, staff, and external stakeholders to enhance donor engagement and expand our philanthropic network.
Communication & Stewardship:
Develop compelling fundraising materials and communications that clearly articulate FPA's mission, impact, and vision, ensuring consistent and transparent stewardship of donor relationships.
Data & Analytics:
Utilize CRM tools and data analytics to track donor interactions, measure campaign success, and refine fundraising strategies for continuous improvement.
Qualifications: Ideal Experience
Fundraising Expertise: Demonstrated success in managing major gift portfolios and consistently meeting or exceeding ambitious fundraising targets in a nonprofit or arts organization setting.
Strategic Thinker: Experience in crafting and executing innovative fundraising strategies that drive donor engagement and expand the philanthropic base.
Collaborative Leader: Proven ability to work as a fundraising thought partner with senior leadership, creative teams, and board members.
Exceptional Communicator: Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying FPA's mission and impact to diverse audiences in a clear and compelling manner.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with CRM systems, digital fundraising tools, and data analysis.
Experience: A minimum of 8 years of increasingly successful professional experience in development, with at least 5 years in a major gift or a leadership role in fundraising.
