About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable finance professional to join our Class A commercial real estate client. This role is critical in bringing structure and clarity to complex financial operations across multiple properties and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will act as an in-house controller, bridging accounting fundamentals with strategic finance responsibilities. This position offers significant exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity for career growth as the organization expands into future phases and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Oversight & Reporting

  • Review and refine financial statements prepared by third-party accounting firm.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting for multiple properties and business units.
  • Manage complex cost allocations and guide property management teams through financial processes.
  • Independently build and understand complex financial models applying a deep understanding of financial concepts and metrics including discounted cash flow, internal rate of return, and multiple on invested capital.
  • Perform in-depth market research and analysis related to multiple variables, including buy/sell factors, construction/development scenarios, "what-if" scenarios, exit scenarios, up-sides and down-sides.
  • Work closely with Legal and Construction teams, reviewing contracts, agreements, loan documents, offering materials, leases, etc.
  • Anticipate needs and understand priorities based on specific situations and proactively communicate with team members on status and prioritization of projects.
  • Develop an understanding of industry developments and trends with supporting analysis that enhances the company's initiatives.

Operational Finance Leadership

  • Serve as a liaison between property managers, construction teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain order and consistency in financial reporting across a fast-paced, multi-tenant environment.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for ongoing and future development projects.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Present financial insights to principals and senior leadership with confidence and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with partners managing operations

Strategic Growth

  • Contribute to acquisition analysis and integration for future expansions.
  • Build scalable processes to support long-term organizational goals.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 7–10 years in finance/accounting roles, ideally within real estate or construction sectors.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • MBA or MS are preferred

Certification:

  • CPA, CFA, or CMA are a plus

Background:

  • Strong accounting foundation; CPA or equivalent preferred.
  • Big 4 experience is preferred.
  • Industry finance experience beyond pure accounting.

Skills:

  • Exceptional financial reporting, modeling and analytical capabilities.
  • Advanced presentation skills; ability to communicate with senior executives.
  • Adaptability and agility in a complex, evolving environment.
  • Proficient with MS office; expertise in Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work, effectively work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to assume a high level of responsibility as a member of a team.
