What You'll Be Doing
Work First is North Carolina's plan to assist eligible families obtain services to help residents gain independence through obtaining jobs. Wake County Social Services is looking for our next Work First Supervisor to lead a team of Eligibility Caseworkers & Team Leads. The Work First Supervisor is responsible for evaluating and applying state and county policies and procedures; and ensures productivity through ongoing analysis of staff workloads and case assignments.

Essential Functions

  • Actively supervise, motivate, evaluate and train employees
  • Conduct quality assurance audits of client case files on workers for completeness, accuracy, consistency and conformity
  • Plan worker case loads by analyzing client requirements and reviewing service objectives.
  • Prepare program information and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other agencies and organizations in community to meet community needs and to explain and interpret program purpose and policies.
  • Collaborate with hiring manager on employee hiring process including application review, developing interview questions and conducting interviews.
  • Provide excellent customer service by actively engaging in responding to clients regarding their case and eligibility.

Required
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years of job-related experience
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted
  • Please include ALL prior work experience on your application and resume.

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year experience with Work First and TANF policy knowledge.
  • Minimum two years supervisory experience in Social Services.
  • Proficiency with NCFAST

  • Experience managing frequent client interactions with professionalism, empathy, and composure.
  • Exceptional interviewing and assessment skills to effectively identify client needs and determine appropriate services or support.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Work First Program Policy and its application in client service delivery.
  • Proven ability to counsel and support clients during crisis situations with sensitivity and sound judgment.
  • Extensive knowledge of community resources and the ability to connect clients to appropriate programs and partnerships.
  • Demonstrated skill in supervising, mentoring, and developing employees to enhance individual and team performance.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment with frequent changes in priorities or processes.
  • Proficiency in basic computer operations with a strong aptitude for learning and utilizing new software applications.
  • Experience and proficiency in using NCFAST to support case management and program delivery.

Hiring Range: $26.91-$36.33

Emergency Service Worker Statement
