Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Bookseller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for literature and a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service. As a Bookseller, you will play a crucial role in creating an inviting atmosphere for customers while assisting them in finding the perfect books and products. This position requires effective communication skills, retail experience, and the ability to engage with customers through various sales techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service by greeting customers and assisting them with their selections.
  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently, handling cash transactions and maintaining accurate cash handling practices.
  • Engage in upselling and cross-selling techniques to enhance the customer shopping experience.
  • Maintain store appearance through effective merchandising, stocking shelves, and organizing displays.
  • Conduct product demonstrations to promote new releases and popular titles.
  • Utilize retail math skills to manage inventory levels and assist in stock management.
  • Exhibit strong phone etiquette when responding to customer inquiries or taking orders over the phone.
  • Foster a welcoming environment by maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the store.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in retail sales or customer service is preferred, ideally within a bookstore setting.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers from diverse backgrounds; bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Basic math skills necessary for cashiering duties and inventory management.
  • Experience in merchandising and stocking is advantageous.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also demonstrating independent initiative when needed.
