Children and Families Ministry Part-Time Director

Overview: The Children and Families Ministry Part-Time Director is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing programs and activities that support the spiritual growth of children and their families at Newtown Presbyterian Church. Primarily, this position works in partnership with the Associate Pastor and Christian Education committee to create a welcoming, supportive and dynamic environment where children and their families can grow in faith, build community, and live out our mission based on the Greatest Commandment from Matthew 22 to: "Love God with all of your heart, soul, and mind, and love your neighbor as you love yourself."
Key Responsibilities:
Children's Ministry Leadership:
Plan, organize, and help lead regular Sunday morning Sunday school for children in K-6th grades using our SparkHouse curriculum.
Develop and implement regular opportunities for Sunday school to partner with local organizations and communities that encourages meaningful relationships with the broader church community and supports spiritual growth (ex. Visits to Pickering Manor Senior Living, Collection drives for local food pantry, etc.).
Family Ministry Engagement:
Partner with parents to equip them with tools and resources for nurturing faith at home.
Work with Associate Pastor and CE committee to facilitate family-focused Christmas Eve and Children's Sabbath worship services that create a welcoming environment for all generations.
Develop intergenerational mission opportunities and connections with local outreach programs that support spiritual growth and service to our community for children, their families, and congregation members.
Coordinate logistics, promote and advertise activities and events for children and families events, ensuring communication with volunteers, families, and church leadership.
Communication and Collaboration:
In collaboration with the church office, maintain regular communication with families through email, social media, monthly newsletter, and the church website.
Provide updates as needed on upcoming events, service opportunities, and other relevant information for children and families.
Collaborate with pastors, church staff, and volunteers to ensure events and activities support the church's mission.
Administrative Support:
Keep accurate records of youth attendance, participation, and engagement in activities.
Work with Associate Pastor and CE Committee to determine the budget for children and family programs, ensuring responsible stewardship of church resources.
Assist with recruiting and training volunteers to support ministry initiatives.
Qualifications:
Experience working with children, youth and/or family ministries in a church setting is preferred.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience using and administrating social media sites (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
Experience using Microsoft Office and ability to use/learn MacOS as needed.
Organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
Ability to lead, mentor, and inspire others with the capacity to work independently, as well as part of a team.
Experience working with Christian-based curriculum and the Bible is helpful, but not required. Personal Characteristics:

Creative, flexible, and willing to adapt to the needs of the ministry.
Spiritually grounded with the ability to connect with and relate to children, youth, families, volunteers, and staff.
Working Hours/Conditions:
This position requires some flexibility in hours, but primarily includes Sunday mornings and some weekday hours to be determined. Occasional evenings and/or weekends may be needed for any special events or services related to children and families programming.
Must be willing to undergo background checks as required by the church and state of Pennsylvania for child protection.

Pay: $ $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 12 per week
