Position Overview: 

The Server Assistant works closely with servers to ensure a seamless dining experience. This role includes maintaining table cleanliness, assisting with food delivery, and supporting the team during peak service. An ideal candidate is fast, attentive, and eager to contribute to a refined and welcoming atmosphere. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Guest Service Support 

  • Assist servers with delivering food and beverages promptly and accurately. 
  • Reset tables quickly and efficiently to maintain smooth table turnover. 
  • Greet guests warmly and ensure water glasses and table settings are properly maintained. 
  • Anticipate guest needs and communicate effectively with the service team. 

Dining Room Maintenance 

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all dining areas. 
  • Clear plates, glasses, and utensils in accordance with service standards. 
  • Assist with polishing silverware, glassware, and restocking service stations. 
  • Support side work responsibilities, including preparing linens, condiments, and supplies. 

Team Collaboration 

  • Communicate clearly with servers, hosts, and management to ensure smooth service. 
  • Assist with carrying trays, running food, and supporting large parties. 
  • Uphold all company service and appearance standards. 

Safety & Compliance 

  • Follow all sanitation, safety, and food-handling procedures. 
  • Ensure compliance with health department regulations and Palm House policies. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

  • Previous restaurant, server assistant, or food runner experience preferred, but not required. 
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills. 
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient in high-volume settings. 
  • Professional demeanor and a guest-first attitude. 
  • Flexible schedule with availability on nights, weekends, and holidays. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time throughout the shift. 
  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport items up to 30–40 lbs (trays, bus tubs, supplies). 
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and stooping during service. 
  • Ability to carry trays of food safely and confidently. 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. 
  • Must be able to navigate dining room spaces quickly and safely while carrying items.
