Eviction Prevention Education Coordinator

Portland, Oregon, United States Self Enhancement, Inc. Full time

Description
The Eviction Prevention Education Coordinator supports SEI's housing stability and eviction prevention efforts by providing education, coaching, and resources that help participants maintain stable housing. This role focuses on delivering holistic eviction prevention education, facilitating workshops, building participant capacity around financial literacy and tenant-landlord relationships, and cultivating partnerships that strengthen long-term housing stability.

Unlike case management positions, this role does not conduct eligibility assessments or handle program intake and data reporting. Instead, it centers on prevention and retention strategies that empower clients and communities to remain housed.

Strong leadership is required to develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with internal teams, external partners, participants, and community members, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic eviction prevention education, including financial literacy, budgeting for rent, and strengthening tenant-landlord relationships.
  • Design and facilitate housing retention and eviction prevention workshops tailored to participant needs.
  • Assist participants in navigating the eviction prevention process, including referrals to legal resources, mediation services, and emergency financial assistance.
  • Support participants with long-term housing stability strategies, including goal-setting and housing success plans.
  • Collaborate with the Housing team to identify emerging trends, prevention opportunities, and education needs.
  • Relationship Management – Internal:
  • Collaboration: Build and maintain strong working relationships across SEI housing programs to ensure unified communication and alignment in service delivery.
  • Team Support: Engage actively in meetings, share insights, and coordinate with colleagues to align education and prevention efforts with other housing services.
  • Communication: Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and responsiveness in all communications; model SEI's values of respect and collaboration.
  • Relationship Management – External:
  • Client Relationships: Develop trust-based relationships with participants through education, guidance, and empowerment, maintaining clear professional boundaries.
  • Community Partnerships: Cultivate relationships with external partners, including housing agencies, community service providers, and landlords, to enhance housing stability supports.
  • Advocacy: Represent SEI and advocate for participants in collaborative initiatives with partners, community groups, and other housing providers.
  • External Communication: Ensure all communications with partners and participants are clear, timely, and professional, upholding SEI's reputation for integrity and quality service delivery.
  • Program Development & Support
  • Work closely with the Program Manager and SEI's Housing Team to evaluate and improve eviction prevention education materials and approaches.
  • Track attendance and engagement data for workshops and educational sessions to inform program development and reporting.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of prevention and retention strategies through feedback, observation, and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience:
  • At least 2 years of experience in housing stability, eviction prevention, education, or a related social service field.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating workshops, trainings, or group education in housing, financial literacy, or community engagement.

  • Familiarity with local housing resources, eviction prevention programs, and community support networks preferred.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong facilitation and public speaking skills, with the ability to present information clearly and adapt communication for diverse audiences.
  • Proven interpersonal and relationship-building abilities to connect effectively with clients, partners, and community organizations.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to coordinate workshops, manage multiple education cycles, and track participation.
  • Creative problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, especially in tenant-landlord or housing-related situations.

  • Collaborative: Works effectively with team members, community partners, and landlords to achieve shared prevention and retention goals.
  • Organized and Proactive: Anticipates needs, prepares materials in advance, and manages multiple tasks efficiently across education cycles.
