Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction VP Estimating/Preconstruction to lead our estimating and preconstruction efforts in the marine, bridge, railroad, and civil sectors, including Corps of Engineers projects . This leadership role is crucial for driving the success of our projects through effective cost management, strategic planning, and collaboration with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of construction processes and a proven track record in project management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the estimating process for all preconstruction activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop comprehensive project scopes and budgets.
  • Utilize software tools for efficient estimating and cost control.
  • Conduct negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favorable pricing and contract terms.
  • Implement best practices in construction estimating to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Manage contracts throughout the preconstruction phase to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the estimating team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Monitor market trends and pricing strategies to inform project bids and proposals.
  • Ensure that all estimates align with company standards while meeting client expectations.

Skills

  • Proficiency in construction estimating software
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to establish positive relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
  • In-depth knowledge of civil construction processes, cost control measures, and pricing strategies.
  • Stable job history
  • 10+ years experience in civil construction
  • Proven track record in construction management with a focus on delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Familiarity with contracts related to construction projects, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Excellent project management skills with an ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess project risks and opportunities for cost savings.
