Springfield, Missouri, United States KCI Construction Full time $60,000 - $120,000 per year

At KCI Construction, we're not just pouring concrete — we're building the foundation for something greater. As a 100% employee-owned company with more than a century of experience, we take pride in doing things the right way — with integrity, teamwork, and craftsmanship. You'll join a collaborative, people-focused environment where hard work is recognized, your voice is valued, and your career can grow alongside the company.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an Estimator/Project Manager to join our self-perform concrete team. This unique hybrid role bridges both preconstruction and project execution — combining your estimating expertise with the ability to lead projects from concept to completion.

You'll be responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates, managing budgets and schedules, and ensuring the successful delivery of concrete work across KCI projects. If you're a builder at heart who enjoys both the numbers and the action in the field, this is the perfect opportunity to make an impact.

What You'll Do

Estimating:

  • Prepare accurate, detailed cost estimates for all self-performed concrete scopes — including labor, materials, equipment.
  • Review and interpret plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine scope and constructability.
  • Perform quantity take-offs, validate productivity rates, and incorporate field feedback into pricing.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and bid reviews.
  • Solicit vendor quotes and ensure scope completeness.
  • Support the transition from estimate to field execution, ensuring a clear and smooth hand-off to project teams.

Project Management:

  • Lead self-performed concrete projects from planning through close-out, serving as the main contact for clients, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Develop and manage budgets, schedules, and work plans to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Coordinate with superintendents, foremen, and field teams to ensure alignment on scope, productivity, and quality.
  • Oversee procurement of materials and equipment; manage change orders and cost reporting.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and uphold KCI's standards of quality and integrity.
  • Maintain consistent communication and documentation to support project success.

Who You Are

  • You're a hands-on construction professional who enjoys both the analytical side of estimating and the leadership side of managing projects.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, and you take pride in delivering quality work that stands the test of time
  • You're organized, proactive, and confident in your ability to balance multiple priorities — from the bid room to the job site.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
  • 5+ years of estimating and/or project management experience in self-performed concrete work.
  • Strong understanding of concrete means and methods, crew production rates, equipment utilization, and material costs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HCSS HeavyBid, Win Est, or scheduling software a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and teamwork.

KCI is proud to be an Equal Opportunity and affirmative action employer regardless of race, color, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious beliefs, material status, genetic information, national origin, disability or protection veteran status.
