SUMMARY

The Bindery Finishing Manager is responsible for leading and managing all finishing operations within the Momentara production facility. This includes overseeing personnel, workflow, equipment, quality control, safety, and operational efficiency across all Bindery Finishing areas. The role ensures all printed products—POP, retail signage, packaging, commercial print, and specialty displays—are finished to the highest quality standards and delivered on schedule.

This leader drives continuous improvement, ensures cross-functional coordination with Screen, Distribution, Pressroom, Digital, Logistics, and Client Services, and ensures all finishing processes follow Momentara's SOPs, safety protocols, and lean manufacturing principles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOperational Leadership

• Lead daily bindery/finishing operations, including scheduling, staffing, quality control, and job prioritization.
• Manage finishing workflows for POP, retail graphics, commercial print, packaging, and Distribution.
• Ensure all finishing equipment is maintained, calibrated, and operated per manufacturer guidelines.
• Optimize labor and machine utilization to meet aggressive deadlines and high-volume production needs.
• Partner with senior leadership to develop departmental KPIs and review performance with the finishing team.

Team Management

• Supervise and develop leads, operators, and support staff across 1st and 2nd shifts.
• Conduct training on equipment, safety, quality standards, and SOPs.
• Provide performance feedback, coach team members, and participate in hiring and onboarding processes.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain strict quality control checkpoints throughout the finishing process.
• Reduce rework, waste, and spoilage through improved operating discipline and root-cause problem solving.
• Drive 6S initiatives, lean workflows, and process standardization.
• Collaborate with leadership and QA on non-conformance investigations and corrective actions.

Workflow & Production Coordination

• Partner with Production Planning/Scheduling to verify timelines and job sequencing.
• Coordinate with Press, Digital Print, and Distribution/Kitting to ensure smooth workflow transitions.
• Review work orders, finishing specifications, and customer requirements to prevent errors.

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce Momentara's safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and OSHA requirements.
• Ensure employees follow proper lifting, cutting, and material-handling guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized production environment.

Equipment & Process Oversight

The Finishing Manager will oversee a wide range of finishing operations, including:

• Guillotine cutting
• Bobst die cutting – Clamshell & Rotary
• Scoring & perforating
• Saddle-stitching
• Laminating (hot/cold)
• UV / matte / gloss finishing
• Mounting (foam board, gatorboard, plastics, corrugates, etc.)
• Shrink-wrapping and packaging
• Eyeleting, grommeting, taping, two-sided adhesive application
• Drilling, padding, collating
• POP display assembly
• Stock sheeting

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• 10+ years of bindery/finishing leadership experience in print manufacturing (commercial, POP/retail, or grand format preferred).
• Strong knowledge of finishing equipment, substrates, workflows, and quality control.
• Experience with lean manufacturing, 6S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Ability to manage multiple teams and shifts in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of print-manufacturing safety standards.
• Strong communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position carries full supervisory responsibility for the Finishing department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs regularly.
• Prolonged standing, walking, and bending throughout the shift.
