Front of House Floor Manager – Job Description
Position Overview
The Front of House (FOH) Floor Manager is responsible for leading the dining room, bar, and host team during service to deliver exceptional guest experiences. This role ensures smooth service flow, strong staff engagement, and consistent execution of company standards. The FOH Floor Manager supports the General Manager and collaborates closely with BOH leadership to maintain a polished, efficient, and guest-focused operation.
Key Responsibilities1. Service Leadership & Floor Presence
- Act as the on-the-floor leader during assigned shifts.
- Monitor service flow, table turns, pacing, and guest satisfaction.
- Conduct table touches, resolve guest concerns, and support the team during high volume.
- Keep a constant eye on ticket times, communication with Expo, and dining room readiness.
- Ensure the restaurant ambiance—cleanliness, music, lighting, and energy level—matches brand standards.
2. Staff Engagement & Training
- Lead daily pre-shift meetings, ensuring staff are informed and prepared.
- Provide continuous coaching, spot training, and real-time performance guidance.
- Ensure staff maintain uniform compliance, professional verbiage, and polished service behaviors.
- Serve as a role model for guest engagement, menu knowledge, and proper steps of service.
- Support ongoing FOH training programs, quizzes, wine/beer/cocktail knowledge, and bingo cards.
3. Host, Server & Bar Support
- Assist the host stand with quoting times, waitlist flow, and large-party coordination.
- Support servers with guest needs, table resets, running food, and drink delivery.
- Work with bartenders to maintain bar top cleanliness, coaster use, and quick guest greetings.
- Ensure non-negotiables are followed: greet within 60 seconds, drinks in under 3 minutes, quality checks, etc.
4. Cleanliness, Organization & Safety
- Ensure dining room, restrooms, bar, and service stations remain clean and stocked throughout the shift.
- Verify sidework is completed to standard before staff are cut.
- Monitor sanitizer buckets, ice bins, floor cleanliness, and overall FOH sanitation compliance.
- Identify maintenance issues and communicate them promptly to management.
5. Communication & Administration
- Maintain constant communication with BOH leadership regarding pacing and ticket times.
- Document shift notes, staff performance issues, and notable guest interactions.
- Assist with inventory counts, ordering, or par checks as assigned by the GM.
- Ensure accurate handling of comps, voids, and incident reporting, following company policy.
6. Sales, Service & Experience
- Promote menu features, upsells, specials, and alcohol recommendations.
- Support the GM in driving sales through staff engagement and product knowledge.
- Maintain a professional presence and ensure consistent delivery of service standards.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of FOH leadership experience preferred.
- Strong communication and guest-service skills.
- Ability to lead a team during high-volume service.
- Working knowledge of steps of service, bar basics, and food safety standards.
- Able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and high-volume events.
