Job Summary:
The Room Attendant is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and presentation of guest rooms, bathrooms, and other hotel areas in accordance with company standards. This role plays a key part in providing guests with a comfortable and welcoming environment during their stay. Room Attendants will work efficiently and diligently to maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and hygiene throughout the hotel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Room Cleaning and Preparation:
- Clean guest rooms, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing all surfaces.
- Change linens, replace towels, and restock amenities as required.
- Ensure that all furniture, fixtures, and room equipment are clean, functional, and in good repair.
- Clean bathrooms, including sinks, tubs, toilets, mirrors, and floors, ensuring the highest levels of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Report any maintenance issues or damages in guest rooms to the supervisor or maintenance department.
- Guest Services:
- Ensure rooms are ready and available for check-in by the designated time.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to guest requests for extra items, including towels, pillows, or toiletries.
- Maintain a polite and friendly demeanor, even during busy times, to ensure guests' needs are met.
- Ensure the privacy and security of guests by respecting their personal space and belongings.
- Assist guests with any special requests, within the scope of duties.
- Inventory Management:
- Restock housekeeping carts with clean linens, towels, and necessary cleaning supplies.
- Keep track of the use and condition of cleaning supplies, linens, and amenities and notify the supervisor of any shortages.
- Report lost and found items to the supervisor and log them according to company procedures.
- Ensure the safe and proper handling of all hotel property and supplies.
- Safety & Sanitation:
- Follow all safety protocols and cleaning procedures, including using cleaning products according to manufacturer guidelines and hotel standards.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, ensuring all surfaces are sanitized and free of germs and dirt.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations regarding chemicals and cleaning supplies.
- Ensure guest rooms are free of safety hazards, such as loose carpet, exposed wiring, or broken furniture.
- Team Collaboration & Reporting:
- Work with other housekeeping staff and management to ensure efficient and timely room turnovers.
- Communicate any guest complaints, requests, or feedback to the housekeeping supervisor or management.
- Assist in deep cleaning or special projects as directed by the supervisor.
- Maintain a neat and organized work area, including housekeeping storage closets and carts.
- Additional Duties:
- Follow any other duties as assigned by the Executive Housekeeper, Housekeeping Supervisor, or management.
- Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed according to hotel policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous housekeeping experience in a hotel or similar environment is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment is a plus.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
- Good time-management skills and ability to work efficiently without direct supervision.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning products, chemicals, and equipment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude while interacting with guests and team members.
- Physical Demands:
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25-30 pounds (e.g., cleaning supplies, towels, linens).
- Ability to push and pull housekeeping carts and heavy linen bins.
