About the Role:

Are you a dynamic public health leader with a passion for tobacco cessation and community wellness? We are seeking a Public Health Program Director to lead state-level initiatives aimed at reducing tobacco and nicotine use—particularly in communities most impacted by tobacco-related health disparities.

This full-time, contract role focuses on developing and implementing evidence-based cessation strategies, building partnerships, and using data to drive impactful public health outcomes. This is a hybrid position with some in-office responsibilities (first day in-person attendance required), based in Tennessee.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Leadership: Manage and direct comprehensive tobacco cessation programs, aligned with national best practices and public health goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and strengthen relationships with healthcare providers, community organizations, public health entities, and other key partners to advance tobacco control efforts.
  • Data-Driven Strategy: Use data and evaluation tools to guide program planning, track performance metrics, and inform continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Implementation: Align tobacco prevention strategies with state health priorities to reduce smoking and vaping rates and improve population health outcomes.
  • Equity Focus: Prioritize outreach and support to populations with higher tobacco use rates, ensuring culturally competent and accessible programming.

Additional Information:

  • Location: Hybrid work model. First day in-person attendance required for orientation and equipment setup. Ongoing in-office presence in Nashville may be expected at supervisor discretion.
  • Travel: Travel to Nashville is not reimbursable.
  • Schedule: 37.5 hours/week; Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
  • Overtime: Not permitted
  • Contract Type: Renewable annually, pending funding availability
