Company:

Our client, a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial Private Equity-owned, Alternative Investment, hedge fund seeks a high potential, hands-on accounting professional to join their growing team. The company has a unique niche in the specialty finance sector which has led to significant growth (both organic and through acquisitions) over the past 5+ years. They are currently completing another multi-billion fund raise which is expected to double the size of the company over the next 3 years. The company owns one of the largest private residential mortgage companies in the US and has purchased over $30B residential loans over the last 9 years. The culture is entrepreneurial, fast-paced, positive, and deadline driven, but is simultaneously collegial, fun and close-knit. The senior executive team is cohesive and comprised of alumni from several top private equity and investment banks as well as industry leaders in the specialty finance and mortgage lending industry. The company HQ is in a desirable, Metro-accessible, downtown DC location.

Position:

In this diverse role, primary responsibilities include quarterly and annual reporting to the limited partners of the funds. This person will manage a variety of financial/accounting responsibilities as well as special projects. Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • NAV calculation/reconciliation, prepare/analyze Fund financial statements, investor reporting and investor interface, management/KPI reporting, cash flow/liquidity forecasts, and other special projects.
  • Work with fund administrator to reconcile quarterly reporting and issue capital calls, distributions, and partner account statements.
  • Assist in annual audit and tax work at year-end, including preparation of financial statement footnotes.
  • Respond to investor requests appropriately and in a timely manner as they arise.
  • Initiate and track borrowings under the different credit facilities available to the private equity funds and ensure the funds' compliance with related covenants.
  • Manage cash needs and work with fund administrator on daily wires for investment purchases.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in public accounting with some corporate experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred.
  • Experience / interest in working in a Private Equity or Fund environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and interest in improving proficiency (Marcos, Queries, etc.).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Career-motivated and desire to work in an entrepreneurial office setting.
