Position Summary

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for supporting the company's financial operations through accurate billing, timely payments, and effective bookkeeping practices. This role ensures compliance with accounting standards, maintains organized financial records, and contributes to the accuracy of the company's general ledger and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare and process customer billing and invoicing accurately and on schedule.

· Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payment processing and collection.

· Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger entries as needed.

· Maintain and organize financial records, supporting monthly and year-end close activities.

· Assist with expense tracking, journal entries, and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.

· Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and analysis.

· Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.

· Collaborate with other departments to resolve billing, payment, and account discrepancies.

· Contribute to process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency in accounting operations.

Qualifications

· Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, billing, and/or payment processing.

· Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes.

· Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred (degree in progress also considered).

· Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, McLeod, or similar systems).

· Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.

Preferred Attributes

· Experience working in a logistics, transportation, or service-based environment.

· Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.

· Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues.

· Strong negotiation skills when working with vendors, carriers, or clients to resolve billing discrepancies and manage payment terms.
