Position Overview:

Reporting to the Market Director, Project Managers within the outside plant department are responsible for delivery of a portfolio of projects within an assigned market, leveraging a cross-functional team of subject matter experts to design, engineer, build, and deliver communications infrastructure. The Project Manager's responsibilities include comprehensive project management, day-to-day project oversight, team leadership, status reporting, problem resolution, and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive Project Management: The full scope of PMBOK areas of project management practice, including scope, schedule, cost, risk, resource and communications management.
  • Day-to-Day Project Management: Manage the project on a day-to-day basis including the schedule, cost and scope management to ensure projects are delivered on-time and under budget.
  • Team Leadership and Motivation: Provide leadership for the project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones.
  • Status Reporting and Meeting Presentation Creation: Develop clear and concise status reports for both internal use and customer presentation. This includes face-to-face meetings with customers in a formal presentation setting.
  • Problem Resolution and Risk Mitigation: Work with project team to creatively and analytically problem solve issues and/or eliminate risk.
  • Project Team Composition: Reporting to this position is the project team, with team size defined by the scope of the assigned project. The team may consist of a Project Coordinator, Construction Manager, External Relations Network Engineer, Fiber Engineer and Finance.
  • Assigned Regional Travel: Travel within assigned region up to 40% of the time.
  • Ad Hoc Duties: Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as needed to support the dynamic needs of the OSP East team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science, technical degree preferred (combinations of equivalent work experience and educational background considered).
  • 5+ years of project management experience, including tracking and planning projects throughout the project lifecycle; working with business stakeholders within a cross functional matrix environment.
  • Familiarity with Verizon Fuze system and ATT IWM/SwiftTrac/NRC/OA is a plus.
  • 5 years of project management experience in a technology deployment environment.
  • PMP strongly preferred. At a minimum, must have a solid working knowledge of PMBOK best practices, with a background of building and deploying project management tools in an operational environment.
  • Extensive Experience with project management software (MS Project, Siterra, SiteTracker, etc.), a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Technical Knowledge in Wireless Systems and Fiber Optics: Experience working in an engineering, operations or project management role with wireless systems and/or fiber optics communications. Specific experience with outdoor distributed antenna systems and/or carrier experience is highly desirable.
  • Customer Interface Experience: Extensive customer interface experience with internal and external leadership teams, directors, managers and individual contributors.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communications skills with a polished ability to communicate both formally and informally with multiple, distinct audiences, including internal teams, senior management, customers, contractors and external resources.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in MS Office tools, especially those related to data analytics (Excel, Power BI) and communications/collaboration (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Attention to Detail and Problem Resolution Skills: Strong attention to detail with demonstrated success in project management, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Prioritization and Time Management Skills: Able to effectively manage multiple and changing priorities simultaneously.

Contractor Status:
