Reports to: Human Resources Manager

Job purpose

As a key member of our HR team, the HR Assistant/Recruiter plays an essential role in supporting the unique culture and operational success of our company. This position leads the recruitment and onboarding process for key roles in operations and sales. This position ensures a seamless candidate-to-employee transition, maintains accurate personnel records, and supports compliance through background checks, drug screening, and reporting. By driving recruitment and collaborating across departments, this role helps build strong, reliable teams that keep the shelves stocked and the taps flowing.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead the recruitment efforts for operations and sales roles, including posting jobs, sourcing candidates, screening applicants, coordinating interviews, and managing offers.
  • Maintain the recruiting process ensuring a smooth transition from candidate to team member.
  • Complete onboarding process, including I-9s, for all new team members within the HRIS and other platforms as needed.
  • Maintain personnel records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Review background checks and motor vehicle reports to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Support employee reimbursement processing through the company's designated platform.
  • Track and follow-up on new hire drug-screens across the company.
  • Generate routine HR reports such as open and recently filled positions, turnover, etc.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments and levels of leadership to support HR initiatives and ensure staffing needs are met.
  • Perform other related duties and HR tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Must have MS Excel and basic computer competency
  • Ability to multi-task with minimal errors
  • Must be a team player and work well under minimal supervision

PREFERRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • One to three years of HR or recruiting experience
  • Experience in distribution, logistics, or food & beverage industry
  • Experience with HRIS systems; experience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred
  • Experience in a warehouse or distribution environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to safely lift up to 20 lbs. 
  • Must be able to sit and perform work utilizing fine motor skills continually (5-8 hours/day)
  • Must be able to walk frequently (3-5 hours/day)
  • Must be able to bend, twist, kneel, climb, reach, and squat occasionally (1-4 hours/day)
