PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Recruitment & Placement Coordinator plays a key role in supporting members enrolled in the organization's workforce programs by helping them gain meaningful employment, internships, and career exploration opportunities. This position serves as the primary liaison between participants, employers, and community partners to create strong, sustainable pathways to workforce success. The Recruitment & Placement Coordinator is responsible for building employer partnerships, managing Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), preparing participants for job readiness, and ensuring successful placement and retention outcomes.

KEY ROLES

Participant Support & Job Readiness

  • Assess participants' skills, interests, and career goals to create individualized employment and career development plans.
  • Provide one-on-one and group support in resume development, interview preparation, professional communication, and workplace etiquette.
  • Facilitate job readiness workshops and training sessions that prepare participants for the expectations of the workplace.
  • Connect participants with appropriate job, internship, and training opportunities based on their skills and goals.

Employer & Partner Relations

  • Identify and develop student placement opportunities within high-demand industries such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, welding, manufacturing, composites, fashion, aerospace, and culinary/hospitality.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local employers, businesses, and community partners to identify quality job placement and internship opportunities.
  • Coordinate and manage MOUs and other partnership agreements to ensure compliance and alignment with program goals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employer partners, providing consistent communication and support throughout the placement process.
  • Collaborate with employers to identify workforce needs and create opportunities tailored to participant skill development and program outcomes.

Placement & Retention

  • Match participants with appropriate employment and internship placements, ensuring alignment between participant goals and employer expectations.
  • Provide ongoing follow-up and support to both participants and employers to promote job retention and resolve workplace challenges.
  • Track placement outcomes and report on employment data, ensuring accurate and timely documentation for program compliance and evaluation.

Program Coordination & Events

  • Coordinate recruitment events such as job fairs, employer presentations, and career exploration panels.
  • Collaborate with program staff to integrate workforce readiness into broader youth development initiatives.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of workforce programming through feedback, data analysis, and relationship-building.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: Maintains close contact with the College & Career Readiness Program Director, Workforce Development staff, Club Directors, and additional Club staff as needed. Collaborates regularly with the Finance, Human Resources, and Grants/Compliance departments regarding partnership agreements (MOUs), compliance, and reporting requirements. Coordinates with the Resource Development team to share success stories and promote workforce initiatives.

External: Builds and maintains relationships with employers, local businesses, schools, and community partners to create job and internship opportunities and promote program collaboration. Represents the organization at community and employer engagement events.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in education, workforce development, business, human services, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in workforce development, youth programming, job placement, or employer relations preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with youth, employers, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain partnerships with local businesses and organizations.
  • Exceptional organizational and documentation skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization, with a passion for empowering youth to achieve their career and life goals.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications (or obtain within the first three months of employment).
