Job Description

Position Summary & Objective

Responsible for overseeing the development and management of integrated master schedules (IMS) for multiple projects. This leadership role ensures the successful execution of projects by developing and managing tools, processes, and teams that deliver visibility, predictability, and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs), such as schedule accuracy, adherence and on-time delivery (OTD).

Essential Functions Performed by the Position 

  • Accountable for the leadership, mentoring and development of a team of master schedulers, fostering a culture of high performance and ownership.
  • Accountable for designing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive IMS that integrates project schedules, resource allocations, and timelines across various departments and project phases.
  • Accountable for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust master schedules that align with engineering, production capabilities, supply chain constraints, and customer demands.
  • Lead a team to analyze schedule performance, identify potential delays, and recommend corrective action.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineering, leadership, operations, supply chain and manufacturing staff to understand priorities, monitor progress, develop solutions to maintain project schedules and achieve OTD.
  • Accountable for a team that oversees the development and recurring updates of IMS using Primavera P6 ensuring alignment with engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and field services phases.
  • Develop standard operating procedures, championing continuous improvement of tools and methodologies.
  • Provide executive-level reporting and analysis on project schedule performance.
  • Provides early warnings for any potential risks as well as opportunities using earned value analysis, float utilization, resource leveling, Monte Carlo risk analysis, and capacity planning.
  • Identifying risks/issues/opportunities and helping provide potential solutions to prevent issues from occurring and provide data and input needed to develop recovery plans when required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have strong technical, leadership and analytical skills to effectively manage and develop team members as individuals and as a team.
  • Strong understanding of EVM, forecasting, and project lifecycle management in a manufacturing/construction setting.
  • Proficiency with Oracle P6 software in a project-based manufacturing business environment
  • Strong Organizational Skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and effective daily, weekly and project life operational schedules, understand and utilize key scheduling methodologies.
  • Ability to effectively perform schedule risk management.
  • Knowledge of critical path method of scheduling. 
  • Detail oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. 
  • Strong understanding of Epicor ERP system.
  • Lean or continuous improvement experience is a plus.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10 or more years' experience production/manufacturing planning, scheduling, or similar role within project based heavy manufacturing environment with at least 5 years' experience leading and managing teams.
  • Proficiency in Epicor ERP systems for estimating, planning and scheduling.  
  • Proficiency in MS Office. 
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 scheduling software.
  • Proficiency with BI capabilities and fact-based analytics

Licenses or Certifications Desired

  • PMP certification

Key Success Factors

  • On-Time Delivery (OTD): Achieving and maintaining OTD is critical for success in this role. Ensuring that schedules meet customer delivery requirements is essential.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Success in this role requires the ability to work closely and collaboratively with engineering, operations, supply chain and project management teams to align schedules and resolve any bottlenecks.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to use data analytics to develop long-term production plans and adjust schedules based on changing factors such as customer demand and material availability.
