We are cabinet experts – period. Our main showroom is in Palatine, IL just outside Chicago, and our new showroom is in downtown Franklin, TN. We work directly with builders, contractors, designers and architects. We provide professional services these folks and their clients. We are growing rapidly and need a top-notch designer and Showroom Managers to join the team
We are looking for a highly skilled and customer-focused Cabinet Designer to provide cabinetry layout, design, and selection services for both new construction and remodel projects. In this role, you will work directly with designers, architects, and builders to create custom cabinetry solutions that meet the specific needs and vision of each project.
Client consultations will be by appointment only. As a Cabinet Designer, you will manage the design process, from initial consultation through final design delivery. In addition, you will handle order management, ensure accurate order acknowledgment, and maintain strong communication with all project stakeholders.
This is not a retail position. We focus on building long-term relationships with professionals in the industry, and our designs are tailored to the requirements of each specific project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Consultation (By Appointment Only): Meet with designers, architects, and builders by appointment to assess their project needs and provide expert cabinetry design consultation services, guiding them through layout options, material selections, and finishes.
- Cabinet Design & Layout: Create custom cabinetry designs and layouts for kitchens, bathrooms, and other spaces, considering architectural requirements, functionality, and client preferences.
- Collaboration with Residential Professionals: Work closely with designers, architects, and builders to ensure that cabinetry designs integrate seamlessly into the overall architectural and design vision of each project.
- Material & Finish Selection: Advise clients on cabinetry materials, finishes, hardware, and other design elements, ensuring that all selections align with the project's aesthetic and functional goals.
- Design Software: Use 2020 Cabinet Design software (to create detailed drawings, renderings, and specifications for cabinetry designs.
- Order Management: Place and track cabinetry orders, ensuring that the specifications match the design and that all materials and products are ordered in a timely manner. Confirm and acknowledge all orders, coordinating with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure smooth execution.
- Project Management Support: Assist in coordinating timelines, budgets, and material delivery schedules to ensure the successful and on-time completion of each project.
- Site Visits & Measurements: Conduct site visits to take accurate measurements and ensure that the final designs fit perfectly within the space.
- Problem-Solving: Address any design challenges or changes that arise during the project, working collaboratively with designers and builders to find creative, effective solutions.
- Customer Satisfaction: Foster strong relationships with clients and ensure that the cabinetry designs meet their expectations and align with project requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Cabinet Designer, Kitchen Designer, or similar role, with a focus on professional, non-retail cabinetry design.
- Proficiency in design software (2020 Design preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of cabinetry materials, finishes, hardware, and construction techniques.
- Experience in placing and managing cabinetry orders, including order acknowledgment and tracking.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with designers, architects, and builders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- A portfolio showcasing previous cabinetry design projects is preferred.
Desired Skills
- Experience with both new construction and remodeling projects.
- Knowledge of building codes and design regulations.
- CAD or 3D modeling experience is a plus.
- Ability to stay current with industry trends, cabinetry innovations, and emerging design technologies.
We are a small, nimble company with years of expertise in the cabinet and construction business. As a seasoned expert in this field, the candidate will manage their own time and work on a contract basis.
