Independent Contractor Tax Preparer

Overview

Brilliant Minds Tax Co. is a fast-growing tax preparation business helping individuals and businesses file accurate, timely tax returns while empowering our preparers to build their own clientele and income. We provide training, support, and tools to help you succeed as an independent tax professional.

We are seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Independent Contractor Tax Preparers. This is not a traditional hourly or salary position — you will earn commission on the returns you prepare. Perfect for self-starters who want flexibility, high earning potential, and the opportunity to work from anywhere.

Duties & Details

  • Position Type: Independent Contractor (not an employee)
  • Training Start Date: Sunday, August 17, 2025
  • Training Days/Times: Primarily Sundays (materials provided online)
  • Compensation: Commission-based pay (earn a percentage of each tax return you complete; the more clients you serve, the more you earn)
  • Work Location: Remote / work from home
  • Tools Needed: Laptop or desktop, reliable internet, and phone
  • Marketing: You'll promote your services to attract clients (training + marketing materials provided)

Responsibilities

  • Attend training sessions and complete assigned learning modules
  • Assist clients with preparing individual and/or business tax returns
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with IRS and state tax laws
  • Maintain client confidentiality and follow data protection policies
  • Market your services (social media, networking, flyers, word of mouth, etc.)
  • Communicate clearly with clients and the Brilliant Minds support team
  • Stay up-to-date with tax law changes and deadlines

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid government-issued photo ID & Social Security number
  • Ability to pass basic training & certification
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated and able to manage your own client list
