Overview

We're looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Preparer to join our growing team at Tax Maven Inc. Whether you're experienced in tax preparation or just starting out in the industry, this role gives you the opportunity to build skills, work directly with clients, and make a real impact.

The ideal candidate has some knowledge of accounting and tax preparation—but most importantly, a willingness to learn, strong attention to detail, and a heart for helping clients navigate their finances with confidence. Training and support are provided, but previous tax or accounting experience is always a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws.
  • Analyze financial information to help identify deductions, credits, and opportunities for clients.
  • Use accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage to manage client accounts (training provided if new).
  • Provide guidance on tax-related questions, breaking down complex concepts in simple terms.
  • Stay updated on tax regulations, industry changes, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve service and client satisfaction.
  • Assist with bookkeeping tasks and accurate record-keeping when needed.
  • Support marketing and client relationship-building activities to help our business grow.

Qualifications

  • Experience in tax preparation, public accounting, or financial services is preferred but not required.
  • Strong math and analytical skills; ability to handle financial data with accuracy.
  • Proficiency (or willingness to learn) in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar tools.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills—able to work with clients from all walks of life.
  • Comfortable with 10-key typing and handling detailed paperwork.
  • A degree or coursework in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is helpful but not required.
  • Certifications (such as PTIN or CTEC) are a plus—but assistance may be available for the right candidate.
