Position Summary

We have an immediate opening for an Instructional Manager. In this role, you will lead a team of teachers to provide high-quality, personalized learning to students in an online school. This role requires you to lead a team ensuring each member maintains a high level of productivity that directly impacts quality student performance. You'll be responsible for ensuring all direct reports meet or exceed company productivity and quality standards.

To be successful, you'll need to be detail-oriented and initiative-taking. We need a broad thinker who can make suggestions, take constructive feedback with a good attitude and without pushback, and then go out and personally execute with diligence. If you like working with others, find fulfillment in coaching people to be better every day, and leading a team to enable student success, we're probably a good fit.

This position is full-time and remote.

Job Duties

  • Serve all stakeholders with integrity, humility, and joy while consistently modeling the importance of both task competency and relationships;
  • Participate in Company events, activities, and meetings with a smile and an infectious, great attitude;
  • Lead a team of teachers serving students enrolled in an online K-12 school;
  • Monitor teachers' daily student outreach and listen to live calls with students and their families to ensure the frequency and content of communication meets our standards;
  • Ensure teachers continually uphold service-level agreements as they relate to grading and both verbal and written correspondence with students and parents;
  • Engage in frequent one-on-one coaching and development sessions with teachers to maximize student retention, growth, and achievement;
  • Assess teachers' instructional efficacy through classroom observations;
  • Document teacher performance via observation notes, one-on-one notes, and formal reviews;
  • Facilitate frequent team meetings, training opportunities, and other engagements designed to ensure teachers are fully supported and standard practices are being implemented;
  • Document processes and procedures, checklists, and other tools that can be used to help improve the efficiency of instruction and improve student learning;
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are being consistently implemented and special circumstances are properly escalated;
  • Draft, implement, and maintain performance plans for teachers whose performance falls below minimum expectations;
  • Directly engage with students and parents when escalations arise;
  • Support the hiring process for vacancies on your team; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and adaptability;
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high energy environment juggling multiple direct reports, deadlines and tasks;
  • Strong track record of acting with a customer-focused approach; and
  • Proficient with technology especially cloud-based educational tools (eg. Google Apps for Education).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Management, or related field required; Advanced degree preferred;
  • Valid teaching certification required;
  • Ability to obtain teaching certification in Arizona, Colorado, and Washington required;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful work experience in educational technology or related industry;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in a customer service capacity;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing people;
  • Strong experience with Mac OS, Google Workspace, and Asana preferred;
  • Private, distraction-free, professional remote work environment with high-speed internet;
  • Ability and willingness to travel to assigned testing locations and physically proctor student assessments (applies to Arizona and Colorado candidates only); and
  • Ability to pass required background checks.
