Job summary

A Fundraising Business Development Manager develops and executes strategies to secure financial resources for an organization by cultivating relationships with donors, foundations, and corporations through grant writing, major gift solicitations, corporate sponsorships, and fundraising events. Key responsibilities include researching and identifying funding prospects, managing donor databases, collaborating with internal teams, creating compelling funding proposals and marketing materials, and tracking progress towards fundraising goals. This role requires strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to manage budgets and inspire support for the organization's mission.

Key Responsibilities Details

· Strategy Development: Design and implement comprehensive fundraising plans and campaigns to meet organizational goals.

· Business & Donor Development, Cultivation & Management: Identify, attract, and maintain relationships with donors, including past, current, and prospective major donors.

· Financial Management: Manage budgets for fundraising activities and analyze the return on investment (ROI) for campaigns.

· Data Analysis & Reporting: Maintain and analyze donor databases to track donations, assess campaign success, and inform future strategies.

  • Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans to meet financial objectives using a variety of funding streams.
  • Database Management: Supervise donor tracking systems and CRM databases to ensure accurate donor information and handle prospect lists.
  • Marketing & Communications: Develop compelling fundraising materials, marketing collateral, and communication plans to support fundraising efforts.
  • Budget Management: Create and manage budgets for fundraising activities and projects, ensuring financial viability and adherence to cost recovery policies.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Track fundraising progress, analyze performance metrics, and provide regular reports on key indicators.

Essential Skills and Qualifications Required

  • Donor Cultivation & Stewardship: Identify, cultivate, and solicit major individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations, and maintain relationships for long-term support.
  • Grant Writing: Write and submit persuasive grant proposals to foundations and government agencies, managing the full grant lifecycle from application to reporting.
  • Fundraising and Event Planning: Coordinate and manage special events and campaigns designed to generate donations and raise awareness.
  • Prospect Research: Conduct research to identify new potential donors, funding sources, and corporate partners.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, businesses, and other organizations.

· Leadership & Management: The ability to lead teams, manage projects, and oversee staff is vital.

· Planning & Organization: Strong organizational and time management skills are needed to meet deadlines and manage multiple events and initiatives.

  • Strong Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate the organization's mission and develop strong cases for support.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with diverse groups of stakeholders.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple projects, campaigns, and administrative tasks effectively.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with fundraising databases and CRM systems.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute strategic fundraising plans aligned with organizational goals.
  • Proactive & Self-Starting: A demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and contribute ideas within a strategic framework.

Work Environment

Location: Remote work; however, travel to events, conferences, and meetings will be required.

Schedule:The role may require flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and extended hours, especially during busy campaign periods.

Interaction:Frequent interaction with diverse stakeholders, including donors, staff, volunteers, and the public, is typical.
