State Department Federal Credit Union is seeking a Manager of Payments Strategy to lead the development of long-term product strategies across the credit, debit, prepaid, and ATM portfolios. This role focuses on enhancing member experience, maintaining competitive positioning, driving profitability, and shaping product design, promotions, and service offerings to deliver best-in-class payment solutions for SDFCU members and staff.

The Manager of Payments Strategy will monitor, report on, and plan process improvements or redesign initiatives, making data-driven recommendations as needed. This position is responsible for collecting and analyzing portfolio data to support strategic decisions, maintaining formal process documentation, and collaborating across project teams and enterprise initiatives to ensure department interests are represented in organizational changes.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops payment strategies to increase penetration, activation, and utilization of card service products.
  • Reports key performance metrics to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Analyzes Rewards program trends and recommends opportunities to improve appeal, utilization and profitability.
  • Proposes testing strategies to maximize financial return on card marketing campaigns.
  • Recommends new features and product enhancements.
  • Works closely with Payments leadership to analyze marketplace trends, build partnerships with industry experts and create excitement for the SDFCU brand.
  • Helps establish and monitor progress dashboards to manage portfolio effectiveness.
  • Works with internal stakeholders to foster ongoing support of cards.
  • Day to day Vendor oversight of multiple processes and procedures.
  • Define, establish, and manage process controls; identify process improvement opportunities and implement them through collaboration with other SDFCU departments making final recommendations for approval on changes.
  • Collect, analyze and measure process data, to initiate sustainable business practices and procedures and for reporting to senior leadership and executives; review data for trends and gaps in the process that may require additional review.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to handle several projects at one time while performing other job duties.
  • Budgetary responsibility for a single small size department or function and/or decisions would have an impact on current organization goals and objectives and would impact department/division or credit union.
  • Create/analyze/maintain daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly statistically reporting for department/division and coordinate daily work activities to ensure credit union goals are met.
  • Coordinated implementation, analyzes and monitors projects/systems to determine recommendations for new programs/improvement/corrections along with presenting supporting documentation.
  • Problems encountered are complex requiring analysis of data; weighing the outcomes of delivery/decision. Problems require functional and technical knowledge and multitask skills are required. Errors can be detected but can be difficult to resolve and consequences of potential error may have significant impact on the member, department, division and/or credit union.
  • Maintains a high degree of knowledge of all SDFCU products with emphasis on payment products.
  • Reads and interprets Procedures Manual, websites, Operation Bulletins, reports and Vendor manuals/correspondence.
  • Establish and/or cultivate professional relationships with 3rd party vendors to coordinate department functionality and project implementation.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Is able to multitask, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
