Position Overview

The Accounting Associate will play a key role in supporting our nonprofit clients with day-to-day bookkeeping, month-end close, and financial reporting under the supervision of the Managing Director. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, collaborative, and interested in the nuances of nonprofit finance. The associate will work closely with GBG's senior team to deliver high-quality, timely, and accurate accounting and operations support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate general ledger records for multiple nonprofit clients.
  • Prepare and record journal entries, bank reconciliations, and credit card reconciliations.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate coding.
  • Assist with payroll processing and related journal entries.
  • Support monthly and quarterly close processes, including preparation of financial statements.
  • Track restricted vs. unrestricted funding and assist with grant/contract reporting and compliance.
  • Maintain organized and complete documentation for all transactions.
  • Assist in developing improved workflows and internal controls for clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (nonprofit experience strongly preferred).
  • Familiarity with GAAP and, more specifically, nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or other cloud-based accounting platforms.
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUPS, etc.).
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively in a virtual team environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70, $85,000.00 per year
