We are a fast-growing global reinsurance speciality company servicing the insurance markets of Lloyd's, Europe and North America.
Our VP of Claims North America is seeking a new Technical Claims Manager – Direct to lead a team of experienced complex claims handlers. This role involves proactively managing direct claims portfolios across various jurisdictions and lines of business, latent/long-tail claims such as, Asbestos, Pollution, Sexual Abuse and other latent liabilities, US Casualty, GL, Property and construction, BI and multiline claims. The Technical Manager will also handle some of the larger, more complex claims and provide technical oversight of third parties and delegated authority referrals. The successful candidate will ensure optimal handling and complete, sound settlements of all claims in line with Company targets, policies, and procedures, ultimately aiding in the implementation of the Company's business plan.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the group claims handling philosophy is complied with by our internal and external claims handlers.
- Upholding level of customer service in Claims measured through client feedback, minimized complaints and internal SLAs.
- Delivery of required levels of Claims performance outcomes spanning a range of key metrics, including indemnity control, claims savings, expense cost control and other identified claim KPIs.
- Technical management of complex claims, ensuring an appropriate level of technical skill exists within internal and external teams.
- Management of internal claims resources, ensuring objectives set in line with KPIs and objectives, direction set and performance managed.
- Monitoring and controlling claims leakage identified through peer review and audit.
- Review and oversight of claims referred from TPAs outside of their delegated authorities.
- Maintaining and developing level of claims handling skill within the Claims Team through training and skill assessment.
- Technical assistance to Claims Due Diligence process in support of new business acquisitions where requisite skills are available.
- Ensure appropriate claims coverage considerations and work with Legal team to ensure consistent and appropriate coverage reviews.
- Lead team in due diligence efforts and represent claims in efforts review of potential new business.
- Right to work in this location
- 10+ years of handling complex claims and coverage experience and/or related insurance experience required.
- Good influencing skills, both with counterparties and in leading and guiding junior members of the team.
- Good level of computer skills using MS Excel and Word as well as other systems
- Flexibility to hone existing knowledge to deal with new books of business when acquired.
- Build, manage and mentor a team utilizing the Compre Values
- Day to day management and performance management of a team of claim professionals
- Experience in testifying in disputes, both as a corporate and fact witness
