DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES (ENGINEERING)

This is a remote position

Position Overview:

We're seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Human Resources, preferably located in the Central or Eastern time zone.

The ideal candidate has a strong background supporting engineering and technical teams and thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments. Partnering closely with our PEO, this hands-on leader will roll up their sleeves to build and scale our HR function—starting with performance management, career leveling, compensation analysis, and culture development.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the HR foundation of a growing organization while working directly with senior leadership to drive engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness.

What You'll be Doing (short-term and long-term):

  • Liaise closely with our Professional Employer Organization (PEO) to oversee all HR functions effectively, ensuring alignment and compliance across the organization
  • Career leveling
  • Compensation analysis
  • Develop and manage performance management and review processes
  • Drive employee engagement through initiatives, feedback, and recognition that strengthen connection to the company's mission and culture
  • Create and lead training and development programs
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies
  • Track HR metrics and deliver monthly reports to leadership, providing data-driven insights for decision-making

What We're Looking For:

  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience
  • Experience supporting a population of engineers or technical professionals Required
  • Background in a small to mid-sized technology or engineering company (typically under 900 employees)
  • Experience scaling company growth through development of strategic HR programs and infrastructure
  • M&A integration experience is a plus
  • Experience working with a geographically dispersed employee population is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR, etc.) is a plus
