We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud & AI Architect to lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and ethical AI solutions that support government and public sector initiatives. In this role, you will combine deep AI/ML expertise with advanced cloud architecture skills to modernize operations, enhance citizen services, and drive data-informed decision-making.

You will work directly with stakeholders, architect complex solutions, support multiple teams, and mentor fellow architects. This role also includes planning and scheduling team resources, overseeing project tasks, generating documentation, and supervising technical staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of AI/ML and cloud-based architectures across state agencies.
  • Plan and schedule team resources, manage project workflows, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Provide architectural leadership for application modernization and AWS cloud implementations.
  • Analyze business requirements and develop scalable, secure, and compliant AI/ML solutions.
  • Evaluate cloud architecture alternatives across IaaS, PaaS, and hybrid models.
  • Recommend AI platforms, tools, and frameworks such as Azure ML, AWS SageMaker, Google Vertex AI, and PyTorch.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and government agencies.
  • Mentor technical staff and support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ensure solutions align with compliance, security, transparency, and responsible AI standards.

Core Qualifications

  • 10+ years of overall IT experience, including 5+ years in enterprise, full life-cycle architecture.
  • 5–8 years of hands-on experience in technical application architecture, build, and modernization.
  • Extensive experience designing and deploying applications in AWS environments.
  • Strong background in solutions architecture for private, public, and hybrid cloud ecosystems.
  • Proven experience building secure, scalable, and ethical AI/ML solutions.
  • Deep expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing.
  • Experience analyzing and recommending AI tools and frameworks.
  • Ability to design and govern secure and compliant cloud and AI architectures.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in application design, solution architecture, and cloud/AI technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (or equivalent cloud certification).
  • Experience supporting state or local government environments.
  • Enterprise-wide integration experience for cloud and AI systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Generative AI, chatbots, and LLM deployment for public-sector use cases.
  • Understanding of public-sector compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST AI RMF, NIST
  • Knowledge of responsible AI, AI ethics, and bias mitigation strategies.
  • Experience with federal, state, or municipal digital transformation programs.
  • Advanced cloud or AI certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP).
