About The Role
As a Lead Google Cloud Architect, you'll make an impact by shaping the future of our cloud ecosystem through designing and implementing scalable, secure, and high-performing GCP solutions that power business growth. You'll lead modernization efforts, streamline migrations, and enable teams to deliver faster, smarter, and more resilient digital experiences. Your work will directly influence innovation, cost optimization, and operational excellence across the organization. You will be a valued member of the Cloud Infrastructure and Security team and work collaboratively with the Engagement Delivery Lead.

In this role, you will

• Define and drive the GCP cloud strategy and roadmap to align with key business goals.
• Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient GCP architectures that enhance performance and reliability.
• Lead cloud modernization and migration initiatives, ensuring seamless transitions to virtual machines and cloud-native environments.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering teams on GCP best practices and architecture standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DevOps, data, development) to design and integrate optimized cloud solutions.
• Ensure all solutions meet compliance and security standards through proactive architecture design.
• Champion innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and incorporating modern design patterns.
• Develop and maintain architectural documentation, ensuring consistency and clarity across teams.
• Optimize cost efficiency and resource utilization within the GCP environment.

Work model

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Atlanta, GA. What You Need To Have To Be Considered

• 12+ years of experience in cloud architecture, with proven expertise in Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong background in application and data migration to GCP virtual machines.
• Experience leveraging storage transfer services to improve data accessibility and security.
• In-depth knowledge of GCP native security, networking, and IaC strategies (Terraform).
• Demonstrated success leading complex cloud implementations and driving measurable impact.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with a focus on partnership and knowledge sharing.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying current on emerging cloud trends.

These will help you stand out

• Experience with hybrid or multi-cloud environments.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Hands-on experience with GCP Serverless design.
• Background in IT security or compliance frameworks.
• GCP Professional Cloud Architect certification or equivalent credentials

Salary And Other Compensation
Applications will be accepted until December 5, 2025.

The annual salary for this position is between $114,000 to $133,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
