Payroll Specialist

Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist in St. Joseph, MO to join our team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
- Responsible for the accurate compensation of employees through the payroll process.
- Ensures computing, withholding, or deductions associated with net pay is compliant with current regulations.
- Responsible for tax reporting and transfer of funds to federal, state, and local agencies as necessary.
- Update records by reviewing and entering changes in exemptions, benefits, deductions, work status, and paid-time-off recordkeeping.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree with emphasis in business administration, finance, or accounting, preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in payroll processing.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local payroll laws and regulations.
- Experience with union collective bargaining agreements as they relate to pay processes and benefits.
- Skilled at analyzing information, attention to detail, maintain confidentiality and thoroughness in completing tasks.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such Excel and Word, inventory software, and the Internet.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
- Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

- Work primarily in an office environment.
- Frequently sits for extended periods of time.
- Frequently use a computer keyboard and office related equipment.
- Requires occasional standing, walking, lifting, stooping or bending.
