POSITION TITLE: ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Salary: $100,000-$130,000 annually (compensation reflective of qualifications and credentials)

Job Snapshot:

CLC is seeking to hire an Accounting Manager to join our growing Finance team. We are a 500+ employee-focused nonprofit organization with an annual budget of over $70 million. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all accounting processes. The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in financial reporting, budgeting, and strategic financial planning. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. While this position is primarily hybrid, the successful candidate will be expected to be present at our Monterey Park headquarters 2-3 days per week or as needed.

Requirements

Your Impact on the Mission – Excellence in Advocacy

  • Lead and supervise an accounting team of 4, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Oversee day-to-day activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger functions.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Collaborate with management to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor and analyze budget-to-actual variances, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Manage and coordinate annual financial audit, ensuring timely completion and addressing audit findings.
  • Oversee cash flow planning and ensure the availability of funds as needed.
  • Monitor banking activities and maintain relationships with financial institutions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to increase efficiency and accuracy to streamline procedures and systems.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, provide insights into financial performance, trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Continuous learning: staying informed and adapting evolving social dynamics to better engage and collaborate with colleagues from all backgrounds.

The Assets You Possess/Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years accounting experience in a nonprofit organization with a budget of $50 million+.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with Financial Edge is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of finance, accounting and audit activities.
  • Dedicated to providing sound financial information to leadership.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with attention to detail.
  • Capable of communicating at all levels, from associates to Board of Directors; proficiency in communicating effectively with a diverse audience, promoting an environment where all voices are heard and respected.
