Surgery Coordinator/Precert Specialist

All members of our ENT practice are Board Certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
Currently Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists of IL, a division of Midwest ENT alliance, is seeking a qualified and experienced Surgery Coordinator/Precert Specialist in Skokie, IL. The practice consists of Ten ENT surgeons across Seven locations in the Chicago area, with cases at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Golf Surgical Center, Hawthorne Surgical Center, Highland Park Hospital, and Evanston Hospital.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
The position of Surgery Coordinator/Precert Specialist requires knowledge of all clinical information in order to appropriately obtain authorization, H&P's and Medical Clearance needed for the procedures and surgeries based on physician orders. The Surgery Coordinator/Precert Specialist communicate in timely manner with Insurance to obtain authorization or schedule predetermination. This role requires a through communication with in office surgery schedulers, Ambulatory and Hospital based cases in a manner that is aligned with the patient's diagnosis and procedure request. We are also looking for someone who possesses excellent customer service skills. The candidate must be able to communicate clearly with patients, doctors and team. Additionally, this individual must be able to respond to both written and oral correspondence in a prompt and accurate manner when scheduling changes or cancellations occur. We are seeking someone who is highly organized and able to effectively manage a demanding workload while maintaining accuracy in all scheduling and communication duties.
Surgery Coordinator/Precert Specialist Duties
- Coordinate surgical H&P, Clearance, Authorization, and Reschedule PO visits
- Communicate with the physician on timely manner
- Coordinate with payers in timely manner and obtain the authorization or pre-determination for a surgical case
- Coordinates with ACS and OR facilities to process paperwork: clearance's, demographics, and Authorization
- Ensures patients have proper medical clearance and pre-surgical packets as needed.
- Reviews post-procedure care instructions with patients and ensures proper follow-up appointments are scheduled at the time the procedure is scheduled.
- Manage patient records and maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries and concerns.
- Utilize EMR and surgery calendar systems to input and retrieve patient information accurately.
- Collaborate with medical staff to verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations (when needed).
Surgery Scheduler Qualifications:
- 1-3 years experience in a medical office required
- Must have experience in obtaining Surgery Authorization and Pre-Determination
- Must have knowledge in commercial insurances, government insurance related to the authorization process
- Knowledge of ENT CPT code is a plus
- Knowledge of ICD-10 codes is required
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work at a fast pace
- Must be able to work Monday Through Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- eCLINICAL WORKS experience is a plus
