Legal Nonprofit is seeking two dynamic and experienced professionals to join their team. The person in these roles will be responsible for the full financial management of an assigned grants portfolio, including budgeting, billing, monitoring receivables and expenditures, managing contracts, and performing grant closeouts. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with funder and organizational requirements, while supporting the mission through effective financial stewardship.

Requirements:

  • Manage a full portfolio of grants and contracts from proposal through closeout.

  • Develop detailed grant budgets and monitor spending, forecasts, and modifications.

  • Record and reconcile grant revenue and expenses in the General Ledger; ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Prepare and submit invoices to funders; track A/R and follow up on outstanding payments.

  • Maintain complete documentation for all GL and grant-related transactions.

  • Collaborate with Finance, Development, and program teams to support reporting and compliance.

  • Support annual audits and program-specific audits.

  • Oversee subcontractor compliance, payments, and reporting.

  • Lead or contribute to special projects and mentor Grants & Contracts Analysts.
Qualifications:

  • Accountant: 10+ years relevant experience (4+ in nonprofit grants/contracts).

  • Accounting Manager: 13+ years relevant experience (6+ in nonprofit grants/contracts).

  • Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Required experience with NYC/State government contracts.

  • Advanced Excel and strong financial data analysis skills.

  • Strong communication skills with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Proficiency with accounting software; Sage Intacct preferred.

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.

    Compensation: $115,000
    Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
