We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department team. In this role, you will assess, coordinate, plan, implement, and manage the care of assigned patients, keeping a strong focus on their progression toward discharge, especially during transitions within the acute care stay.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement physician orders and administer medications, starting IVs, and performing necessary treatments, procedures, and special tests while documenting care as per policy and regulations.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to accurately assess patients’ conditions.
- Continuously assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to the care provided.
- Utilize sound nursing judgment in decision-making for patient care management.
- Provide primary and emergency care for both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Administer medications as prescribed and collaborate with the nursing team to develop comprehensive Plans of Care for all patients.
- Direct and mentor ancillary personnel while upholding professional nursing standards.
The Emergency Department serves as a Level I Trauma Center and a regional referral center for a diverse range of patients requiring acute care. Open 24/7, we see patients of all ages in our 45-room facility, equipped with specialized zones for trauma, pediatric care, and rapid care services. Our department also includes a dedicated radiology suite, negative flow rooms, and plans for a new Level II Pediatric Emergency Department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate from a professional nursing program with a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree.
- Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
- Certification in BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC is required.
- A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a clinical nursing role, preferably within a large academic setting or Level 1 Trauma Center.
- Commitment to professional development through continuing education.
- Knowledge of quality concepts and the ability to apply them for improved patient care outcomes.
