Kemper has a proven track record for developing its people for higher roles within the department as well as other functions and across its operating entities.We seek a detail-oriented professional to assist with the Corporate, P&C, and Life investment accounting for monthly, quarterly and annual accounting functions associated with Kemper’s financial reporting.Position Responsibilities: Prepare and review monthly journal entries and general ledger reconciliations Prepare and review various reporting schedulesConsolidate information for internal and external financial reportingWork with internal and external auditors and provide necessary supportPrepare analytical schedules, analyze variances, and provide support for internal requestsActively identifyand complete process improvement projectsReview work of Staff Accountants and provide meaningful feedbackCreate and perform ad hoc queries and analyses as neededMinimum Requirements:BA/BS degree in Accounting.5-8 years of experience in corporate accounting. Insurance / financial services experience is a plus. Investment accounting a plus.CPA or CPA candidate preferredFamiliarity with both US GAAP and statutory accounting principles is a plusExperience navigating a large ERP environmentProficiency in MS Office products - intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS ExcelExperience in Workday and Blackline a strong plusOther skills:Effective writing skills and strong attention to detail requiredStrong analytical, organizational, and time management skillsProgressive thinking skills, a strong work ethic, and a knack for innovative solutionsExcellent communication skills to interact with varying levels of management and professional staff.Ability to identify, analyze and solve accounting issues.#LI-Hybrid#LI-RM-1The range for this position is $68,000-$113,400. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors.
