Key Responsibilities

• Lead accounting and reporting for investment portfolios tied to reinsurance transactions, applying and expanding your understanding of investment structures, insurer balance sheets, and transaction mechanics.
• Ensure investment activity is recorded accurately and timely, working closely with internal investment teams and external parties such as asset managers, custodians, and administrators.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen processes and controls, partnering with investment operations, technology teams, and service providers to implement enhancements.
• Support the preparation and review of GAAP and statutory reporting for investment portfolios, leveraging your audit experience with insurance carriers or investment-related engagements.
• Develop a strong technical foundation in life and annuity reinsurance structures, with opportunities to broaden into other corporate accounting areas over time.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward CPA is highly valued.
• Approximately 4-6 years of experience in public accounting, ideally from a Big 4 or national firm.
• Experience auditing life, annuity, or reinsurance carriers and/or investment portfolios is highly preferred; general insurance carrier audit experience is also welcome.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP and statutory accounting or exposure gained through audit engagements.
• Familiarity with internal control frameworks, risk assessment, and SOX-related concepts.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into practical insights for non-auditors.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritize effectively, and thrive in a fast-moving, evolving environment.

Technical Skills

• Comfort working with ERP or accounting platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or Workday; strong Excel proficiency expected.
• Exposure to investment accounting or reporting tools (e.g., Clearwater) is a plus but not required-training will be provided.
• Interest in leveraging tools that incorporate automation, analytics, or AI to enhance reporting and process efficiency.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive base salary in the $130,000-$150,000 range, depending on background and experience.
