Position Overview: As an HR Specialist at Synthesys Brain Health (Synthesys), you will play a crucial role in supporting our human resources functions. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining the optimal function of our HRIS system (currently Paycom), providing exceptional customer service to employees, and supporting various HR activities and projects. This is an entry-level position in the HR field that expects the candidate to have some experience/training and/or education in the HR function but is expected to be able to learn and grow in the role acquiring HR expertise as he/she develops into a seasoned HR professional.

Key Responsibilities:
- Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Management: Assist the Senior Vice President of Finance and CFO in overseeing and maintaining the HRIS system, including installation, customization, development, and maintenance. Assist with acquiring data reports and summaries for senior executives and company staff. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for HRIS users, manage permissions and system settings, and program custom functions such as queries and reports.
- Payroll Processing: Manage semi-monthly payroll processing for 130 staff including: verifying completeness of employee timecards and approvals; verifying benefits applied correctly to paycheck amounts; troubleshooting and rectifying any deficiencies in Paycom report; submitting and reporting payroll.
- Employee Services: Manage employee onboarding process including: administer pre-employment assessments and post-employment exit interviews; support new hires with pre-employment activities such as background checks and drug screenings; and respond to requests for Verification of Employment (VOEs).
- Process Improvement: Recommend and implement system and process improvements. Assist with performance reviews, benefit open enrollment, and other HR-related audits and projects.
- Communication: Maintain effective and professional communication through phone, email, and written correspondence. Provide excellent customer service to the entire employee base.
- Ad Hoc Support: Assist with various HR team projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree with coursework in Human Resources or a related field preferred. Liberal Arts majors with an interest in the Human Resources field are encouraged to apply.
- Experience: No direct experience in HR necessary. Preference given to candidates with some HR experience or HR training.
- HRIS Proficiency: Preference given to candidates with Experience with HRIS systems such as Paycom.
- Skills: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in MS Office, and a positive, personable demeanor.
- Attributes: Ability to handle confidential data, take initiative, work independently, and collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
