Abonmarche is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to work in our South Bend, IN office.
Job Summary:
The Accounts Payable Specialist assists with the management of all forms of financial accounts by maintaining accurate records of accounts payable, ensuring invoices are entered promptly, accurately, and paid when required. The Accounts Payable Specialist assists preparing departmental reports.
- Performs day to day financial transactions, including reviewing, verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable invoices and check requests.
- Learn what expenses are allowable and unallowable to meet Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 31.
- Maintains vendor and subcontractor records, including terms, addresses, if 1099 required, Certificates of Insurance, W-9’s, etc.
- Prepares year-end 1099’s.
- Runs A/P Reports and generates accounts payable checks in a timely fashion.
- Maintains monthly and annual vehicle mileage records.
- Prepares monthly credit card statements by employee card holder and requests documentation and support from employees with credit card activity, and records transactions.
- Receive Project Authorization (PA) forms from Project Managers and create new projects, inputting information accurately from the PA form.
- Handles employee expense reimbursement functions as required.
- Maintains accurate records, including ledgers, journals, receipts, and invoices.
- Handles general ledger bookkeeping where necessary.
- Looks for and provides solutions for accounting irregularities.
- Ensures compliance with internal accounting procedures.
- Assists with preparation for annual audits.
- Performs administrative and other tasks as needed.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.

- 1+ years of general accounting experience.
- 1+ years of experience working with accounts payable, Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook, etc. and exposure to automated accounting systems.
- Experience working in an engineering or architecture firm a plus, but not required.
- Knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Attention to detail, problem solving skills, ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and work independently.
