Summary of position:

We are looking for a sharp, ambitious, and enthusiastic Junior Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate is someone that is passionate about working in a care team model with a personal responsibility of providing care for our orthopaedics patients and clinical support to the team. The right candidate will be able to provide an exceptional patient care experience that promotes healing and recovery, and having an attention to detail mindset while being caring and compassionate.

What You'll Do:

Assist with weekly check runs if needed.
Prepare month end closing journal entries and payroll journal entries.
Prepare and process daily cash journal entries.
Reconcile all bank accounts.
Reconcile all Balance Sheet accounts, benefit deductions and bank statements monthly. Research and reconcile all discrepancies.
Manage Petty Cash
Athena tasks: match deposits, work unpostables, post refund and others as assigned.
Fixed Asset processing, tagging, and reporting.
Prepare Sales/Use Tax
Back up for Payroll and Accounts Payable
Perform clerical functions that support the department.
Other tasks as directed.

What You'll Need:

Accounting Degree and/or equivalent experience
1-2 years accounting experience.
Strong Microsoft Excel
Healthcare/Medical Service industry experience preferred, but not required.
Working knowledge of standard office procedures and the ability to handle confidential information.
Basic understanding of accounting principles.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong computer skills
Flexibility and resourcefulness in dealing with new problems and changing circumstances.
Planning and preparation in advance to avoid potential problems.
Consistent review of accountabilities to ensure maximum efficiency.
Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and be flexible to meet the needs of SMMG.
Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines
Interact with professionals and staff from a variety of disciplines.
Relate to the staff and public in a customer service minded manner.
Act upon directions timely in a fast pace, occasionally demanding environment.
Anticipate the needs of multidisciplinary staff.
