The Steward and Conference Services Manager will direct and supervise the Steward & Conference set up teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Knowledge of all equipment and chemicals used in the cleaning of the kitchen.
  • Knowledge of all areas of the resort.
  • Assist in the purchasing of all chemicals and wares used in a professional kitchen.
  • Proper storage and knowledge of all wares in the kitchen environment
  • Follows directives assigned to them by their immediate supervisor.
  • Managing and Scheduling of hourly team members & temp labor for operational use.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary Kitchen.
  • Assist in all areas of the kitchen.
  • Good with inventories and organization.
  • Ability to work in high stress environment.
  • Ability to handle chemicals and heavy equipment.
  • Management experience in high volume business
  • Ability to read and execute BEO’s.
  • Understanding of proper rotation of stock (FIFO)
  • Proper food storage and food safety procedures followed.
  • Must be certified by WV State food handler.
  • Ability to work weekends, nights, holidays and be flexible in scheduling.
  • Responsible for hiring and training supervisors in both departments.
  • Work closely with the F&B leadership to implement SOPs, oversee execution of F&B and conference storerooms in stocking, organizing, and cleaning.
  • Develop SOPs to manage and execute event services and equipment set up.
  • Maintain a high standard for cleanliness and organization of equipment in all related areas.
  • Daily responsibility for providing required services to conference groups including meeting directly with group contacts and speakers and the set-up of all function rooms including audio visual needs; subsequent tear down and cleaning.
  • Continually strives to provide an exceptional experience for all resort guests through their interaction with the Conference Service department.
  • Establish, maintain and implement standards that provide a safe, secure and clean working environment for staff as well as guests; keeps work areas front/back of house and equipment neat and clean.
  • Assists the Director of Sales and Conference Services in the establishment of yearly budget for the Conference Service set-up division.
  • Establishes control methods to ensure that budget objectives are met such as inventories, scheduling/staff levels/payroll and supply orders.
  • Responsible for creating and revising diagrams in meeting matrix, monitoring function room usage in Visual One and inputting and updating all staff schedules in ADP.
  • Serves as an advisor to the Sales and Conference Services staff regarding function room set-up.
  • Prepares function rooms for meetings, banquets, and other activities by setting up chairs, tables, audio visual and other support equipment and decorations.
  • At the completion of the function cleans and removes all above equipment to designated storage areas and cleans functions rooms including ceilings, walls, floor carpet, furniture, fixtures, windows and draperies.
  • Routinely inspects and evaluates conditions of facilities, equipment and furnishings and submits to Director of Sales and Conference Services recommendations for painting, repair, replacement or relocation of the same.
  • Delivers conference material to appropriate individuals or areas.
  • Delivers Luggage to guest rooms and removes when requested.
  • Hire and train the team members to develop stewarding & conference services departments with high service standards.
  • Implement over-night cleaning for all kitchens and restaurants.
  • Establish and maintain daily cleaning of all F&B areas, including hallways, banquet rooms, serving areas, restaurants, kitchens including those outside of the lodge.
  • Oversee all setup and equipment rotation before and after events.
  • Train the Conference services team to assist with light A/V set up.
  • Must attend BEO Meetings
  • Maintain a working relationship with outside equipment vendors for delivery and pickup schedules.
  • Complete appropriate trainings listed on the human resources Training Matrix.
  • Adhere to Wheeling Park Commission’s safety rules and policy; refer any and all safety concerns to department manager, safety committee or human resources.
  • Interact with the public with a cheerful and positive attitude, solve guest problems and complaints in a proper manner, and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 6-8 employees in the Conference Services Department and 13 employees in Stewarding. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
