Outside Sales Representative

We are a manufacturers representative group in the food service industry. We are looking for a talented, hard-working individual to join our team.
You will be responsible for promoting the company’s products and services and for building relationships with new and existing accounts. The main focus is to help our customers succeed while achieving sales and profit goals within your territory. The position will be highly focused on selling table top supplies (china/flatware/glassware) and furniture.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
- Promotes/sells/secures orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
- Demonstrates products and services to existing/potential customers and assists them in selecting those best suited to their needs. Selling both end-users and dealer/distributors.
- Develop new business, penetrate existing accounts, and minimize lost business to achieve profitable sales growth and special objectives within assigned territory.
- Research customer business needs and develop a mix of products and services to meet their needs.
- Evaluate market trends and recommend products to customers, based on business needs and goals.
- Be informed of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales; share information with customers as part of value-added services provided.
- Become a valued resource.
DETAILS OF FUNCTIONS:
- Develops clear and effective written proposals/quotations for current and prospective customers.
- Expedites the resolution of customer problems and complaints.
- Coordinates sales effort with marketing, manufacturers, inside customer service, managers, etc.
- Analyzes the territory/market’s potential and determines the value of existing and prospective customer’s value to the organization.
- Identifies advantages and compares organization’s product/services.
- Plans and organizes personal strategy by maximizing the Return on Time Investment for the territory.
- Supplies management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities and potential for new products and services.
- Keeps abreast of product applications, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising and promotional trends.
- Participates in trade shows and conventions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality; or Culinary Arts desired or High school diploma
- 1 year of outside foodservice sales experience or public marketing experience.
- Proficiency with MS Outlook
- Demonstrates aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions for customers.
- Must be results-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Must be self-driven and motivated.
- Must possess excellent verbal, written, organizational and communication skills.
- Must enjoy working with people and developing relationships.
