A successful candidate will have a portfolio that demonstrates familiarity with most of these kinds of projects.

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Design experiences that simplify complex medical tasks into intuitive interfaces across our devices, mobile apps, and web solutions.
  • Contribute to strategic decisions around the future direction of Butterfly's products
  • Design new product features or improve existing usability problems, driven by data, and market research and user research.
  • Work with UX researchers to define the scope of usability testing. Propose testing goals and prepare prototypes.
  • Create new experiences and layouts that develop and define our visual design systems.
  • Drive a partnership with product managers, engineers, and researchers in order to oversee the user experience of a product from conception until launch
  • Regularly present your work to the product design team and cross-functional partners. Provide multiple solutions, explain the design rationale and suggest the best solution.
  • Continuously refine our design language to stay ahead in the industry.
  • Oversee contractors as needed.
Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • 5+ years of experience designing and shipping products that are broad and complex, delivering end-to-end experiences across various platforms, including mobile, and web.
  • Proficient in interaction design, defining how experiences should behave based on a deep understanding of users' needs
  • Skilled in visual design with expertise in typography, UI for desktop and mobile, color theory, layout, iconography, and an aesthetic sense of how these elements impact product functionality.
  • Experience Competence in relevant design and prototyping tools, like Figma and applying research, usability tests, data and metrics to inform design decisions
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and self-management skills
  • Efficient & Speedy - you get work done in a fraction of the time as industry peers
  • Intellectually Curious - you are thoughtful & inquisitive; people enjoy working with you because they learn from you
  • Mission-Driven & Committed - you are passionate about the company's purpose and are immensely productive
