Position Qualifications:

  • Ohio CDCA license preferred.
  • Ohio Peer Recovery Supporter Certification required.
  • Lived experience with substance use disorder required
  • Three (3) years living in recovery preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle during working hours and evidence of automobile insurance in the state of Ohio is required.
  • Must pass a background investigation conducted by Hamilton County Risk Management
  • Must make an on-site visit to the Sheriff’s Office prior to official acceptance of employment.
  • Must participate in basic correctional training including security concepts, facility procedures, and unarmed self-defense.
  • Must be physically able to spend several hours per day walking and/or standing and several hours per day sitting.

Must provide all Peer Navigation Services within the Hamilton County Justice Center unless offsite services are approved by program administration.

Position Expectations:

  • Provide recovery support services and guidance to jail-based population to help identify problems associated with Alcohol and Other Drug related problems and link with treatment post-release.
  • Complete written case plans and release plans and make appropriate recommendations to the treatment provider.
  • Conduct individual and group peer support sessions as well as case management as needed.
  • Provide transportation services for clients to initial appointments with community treatment providers and/or recovery housing providers upon release from the Hamilton County Justice Center
  • Maintain confidentiality, appropriate boundaries, and respect for all individuals/families served.
  • Embrace and exhibit the agency values of: Consumer Focused, Mutual Respect, Individual and Agency Integrity, Quality, Excellence, Compassion, Diversity, and Hope.
  • Meet deadlines for documentation and referrals to providers as specified by agency policy and/or state/federal regulations (whichever is more stringent).
  • Maintain knowledge of treatment and/or social services available in the region.
  • Maintain all records in accordance with the project, agency specifications, and HIPPA/42 CFR standard.
  • Participate in case presentations.
  • Participate in regular staff, team, and/or clinical meetings.
  • Maintain documentation of participation in supervision.
  • Improve competencies through training/education.
  • Provide training/education to and with the agency staff both internally and externally.
  • Meet or exceed productivity requirements on a quarterly basis.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement and Evaluation initiatives as requested.
  • Deliver services both onsite and offsite when needed.
  • Meet the security requirements for working inside the Hamilton County Justice Center.
