Carrier Sales Rep/Logistics Coordinator
Job Summary

You'll be an integral part of our success, negotiating with our carriers to maximize profits and provide stellar service and support to our customers.
Five Star Trucking's sales strategy is two-fold. We sell our services to customers to add
value to their supply chains and we sell our freight lanes and value proposition to a growing carrier
network in order to build sustainable capacity solutions for our customers.
The central mission of a carrier sales rep is to increase revenue by developing key relationships within
the existing Five Star Trucking carrier network. The production will come by executing against Five Star’s defined sales
process to target carriers in focused metro areas and develop a subsequent strategy for increasing Five Star’s
overall utilization of their equipment
Key Responsibilities
- Actively and continually prospect carriers within the target area
- Understand and execute against the sales process and partner with customer sales reps on business and lane development
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the transportation brokerage industry
- Be able to think strategically around carrier problems to deliver Five Star’s value proposition(s)
- Maintain a portfolio growing of carriers to market and build the Five Star brand to our carrier base
- Meet or exceed growth goals and quota set by immediate leader
- Have strong negotiation skills in pricing and contract agreements
- Electronically track and maintain leads and contacts
- Display a strong ability to multi-task
- Be a team player
- Represent Five Star’s mission and values
- Be a strategic problem solver with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Contact, negotiate and secure carriers for available/open customer loads.
- Dispatching and scheduling carriers for pick-up and deliveries as needed
- Maintaining communication with drivers and carrier dispatch to ensure timely delivery of freight. (Our business is communication, are you a pro at following up?)
- Taking On-Call Responsibilities on a rotating basis
- What you need to be successful:
- Effective listening and strong communication skills interacting with drivers, carriers, customers and company staff
- Strong sales skill. Strive to develop a long-term carrier relationship, not a one-time transaction. (Building relationships with carriers and customers ensures long-term success)
- Ability to organize, prioritize and problem solve
- Must be a team player, set the example.
- Willing to cold call to find potential carriers in areas of need to help develop carrier base (Think of it as a scavenger hunt, you'll never know what you'll be able to dig up)
- Able to work in a fast-paced, detail oriented environment
- Desire to improve and grow, always looking for more opportunities (Our referral commission program should help provide some motivation too)
- Basic knowledge of DOT Regulations and multi-state geography
- Excellent customer service skills and telephone etiquette
- Experience with Computers; Windows, Office Suite, GSuite, and industry specific software
- Previous experience in the trucking/transportation industry is a plus.
- Prior relationships with a base of truckload carriers and/or experience with produce/refrigerated freight is a plus
- Are you familiar with EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System)? If not, you will be.
