We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Kitchen Manager to join our dynamic team and help us maintain our high standards.
Job Summary: The Assistant Kitchen Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of our kitchen. This position involves managing kitchen staff, ensuring food quality and safety, and maintaining inventory. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary excellence, strong leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, upscale environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Management: Assist in hiring, training, and scheduling kitchen staff. Provide ongoing support and mentorship to ensure high performance and team cohesion.
- Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular stock checks, and order supplies to ensure the kitchen is well-stocked with fresh ingredients.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct quality control checks on dishes to ensure they meet Millburn Standard’s high standards before they leave the kitchen.
- Menu Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Chef to develop and refine the menu, incorporating seasonal ingredients and new culinary trends.
- Sanitation and Safety: Implement and enforce rigorous cleaning and sanitation protocols. Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and standards.
- Cost Management: Assist in tracking kitchen expenses, identifying areas for cost savings, and implementing efficient practices to minimize waste.
- Customer Satisfaction: Ensure that all dishes are prepared and presented to the highest standards, contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Assistant Kitchen Manager, Kitchen Manager, or similar role in a high-end restaurant.
- Hands-on experience with menu planning and ingredient ordering.
- Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques and upscale American cuisine.
- Strong understanding of kitchen sanitation and safety regulations.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage a team effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Culinary school certification or a degree in Restaurant Management is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
